CI-huAEC Medium is a specially developed alveolar cell growth medium for the in vitro culture of our immortalized alveoalar cells CI-hAELVi (INS-CI-1015) and CI-huArlo (INS-CI-1031).
It is designed for use in an incubator at 37° C with a 5% CO2 atmosphere.
huAEC Medium is provided as a kit consisting of Basal Medium and Supplement Mix in separate sterile packing, which need to be combined to obtain the complete, ready-to-use medium.
Alveolar epithelial cells play a crucial role in the respiratory system by lining the alveoli, tiny air sacs within the lungs where gas exchange occurs. Our alveolar cells have been extensively used to model the air-blood-barrier in vitro.
Store the products as follows if not indicated otherwise on the product label.
Basal Medium at 4 to 8°C
Supplement Mix at -18 to -20°C
Complete Medium at 4 to 8°C

Prepare the complete Medium before use:
- Thaw Supplement Mix at ambient temperature.
- Add 30ml Supplement Mix to 500ml Basal Medium to obtain the complete Medium.
To prepare smaller volumes of complete Medium, aliquot Supplements and store at -20°C. For example, aliquot 5×6ml and then add 6ml Supplements to 100ml Basal Medium.

No, none of our standard media for our immortalized cells contains prophylactic antibiotics. You can supplement the medium with any standard cell culture antibiotic if you wish.
No, although we usually ship the Supplement Mix frozen and we recommend storage at -18 to -20°C , it may arrive thawed from transport. This does not affect the quality of the product. However, please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Aliquot the Supplement Mix
